Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge Stewardship Event

Join Friends of Oaks Bottom, SOLVE, and Portland Parks and Recreation to keep Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge clean for trail users and wildlife! Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is a 163-acre floodplain wetland that sits along the east bank of the Willamette River and is the largest remaining natural area within the lower reach of the Willamette providing necessary habitat for fish and wildlife. Native wildlife populations include threatened salmon and more than 175 species of birds. Everyone is welcome; no experience is necessary!

Date & Time: Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 9 am to 11:30 am.

What to Bring: Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Feel free to bring your personal tools if available and a reusable water bottle to support our sustainability efforts.

Meeting Location: Meet in the parking lot to the North Entrance of Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge on Milwaukie Ave., across from SE Mitchell St. Street parking is available if the parking lot is full.

What’s Provided: Volunteers will be provided with work gloves, heavy duty garbage bags and litter grabbers.

Restrooms: There is a port-a-potty in the parking lot at the Milwaukie entrance to Oaks Bottom.

Accessibility: This area may not be easily accessible for folks with mobility concerns.

Participant Age Guidelines: All ages welcome, but children under the age of 15 need adult supervision.
